A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical and usage details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates, times, and duration
- Device category and operating system

- Internet Protocol address
- Pages viewed during the visit
- Referring website, when available

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material identifies where Pittsylvania County records may be requested from the Sheriff, Virginia courts, the Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. Information submitted through a tool is covered by that provider's policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because we do not control the provider's handling of it.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Pittsylvania Sheriff, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal resources, or external search services. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Check them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not run that cross-site tracking.
